Please Do Poem by Okoemu Okoemu Okoemu

Please Do

Rating: 5.0

I beg you, in your church
Please do
In your work place, I pray you
Please do
Do look down
At the feet of that peasant
Not the feet of your priest
Or your bishop or your boss
Who already have or can afford
More than a pair
Please do look down
At the feet of that church warden
The feet of that chorister
And of that lay reader
Look also at the feet of
that peasant faithful who sweeps the church
Please your pastor is not in need
Look at the face of that man
He is the one who needs gifts
Not the priest please
Look at the feet of that man
He is the one who needs gifts
Not the bishop or archbishop
Look at the body of that boy
Who clothes are now tattered
He is the one who needs gifts
Not the archbishop emeritus
Who has no need for the gifts
Please I beg you, just look down
The gifts for that pastor,
Give it to this widow
Give them to this widower
Give them to this poor child
They have nothing to pay you back
They may not even say thank you
But the purpose you have serve
Will be more than blessings
Please when you enter your church
This season, just look down.
Help those who really need help.
Please I'm begging you.
