“Was I not deserving of his pity? ” …………… is “his” referring to a man not mentioned already in the poem? as usual, great rhymes! ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - for lora: A Pity At times I have felt some guilt …. that I have only, so far, built …. 4 marriages in my 3 score years. [Pardon as I wipe my few tears.] And (finally) that I’ve met you now, I’d like to kiss your hand as I bow, but I’d be out of bounds; it is true, if I now confessed my love for you. What a pity: this situation you & I have. I could soothe you with my love-salve. But what could I say to soothe my wife? What a pity I have but one human life! This is not the poem I first wrote to you. The first is lost in cyberspace. Sad but true. I foolishly did something on PH I now regret, but this is my second try. It’s what you get. : ( : ( - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - bri :) :)
Very nicely and deeply envisioned. Aptly presented the captivating poem Pity I like most. Many thanks for sharing. ........10
A sad tale Lora. The empathy and sympathy you feel for others is not returned for you. He walked away with my heart in his hands.....................I especially like the last line. Great!
