I have loved this poem since I was about 10. Then when I had 2 daughters it took on a special meaning. Look for a book called " verses for children" very old mine inherited from dad and I am 70 this is one of many great poems for children. I am now a grandmother of a beautiful boy. Still love this book

My grandpa told me he tears up every time he reads this. It certainly is a wonderful tribute to the fleeting wonders of childhood and to the heroes and heroines who look after those same children.
