Pigeon Feast Poem by Abid Anwar

Pigeon Feast

Pigeon meat is good for health
That's what my mother had always said;
I was too young to understand
And hence, so little an attention I paid.
Now that I'm grown up and wise
Rate those who take it are the strongest guys.

Raccoon-like human hands
Go in and come out of the pigeonhole
To catch hold of the squabs
Or their parents too, with none to condole.

Heads of states and their army chiefs
Enrich their menus with pigeon feast;
Those who happened to be vegans
Now order their chefs to extend the list.

Ornithologists throughout the world,
On completion of their theses on bird,
Conclude: we need to save the hawks,
If trained, they'll enrich our pigeon stocks.
