Piercing Pain Of A Lover Poem by Arun Maji

Piercing Pain Of A Lover

Rating: 5.0

You wanted light
So, I travelled to Sun.
You wanted dream
So, I took refuge in darkness.
You wanted safe abode
So, I split my chest
And showed you my faithful heart.

Yet, you are not mine.
Are you?

You are close
Yet far, far away.
Lying on my nude breast
Who do you dream about O love?
Who is that wealthy prince
Who incessantly whispers in your ear
Promising you wealth of heaven?

You know
I tore my beating heart,
Dug into depth of volcanic mountain,
Throttled dream of my youth,
Just to make you smile.
Yet, where is that sparkling smile
I loved and cherished so much? So long?
Where is that inebriating fragrance
That once radiated from your cherry lips?

Tell me o love, tell me
How long would we play like puppets
In dungeon of buried love?
How long would we act like faithful lovers
While despising each other in silence?

Why did we come close?
Why did we sing together
While resting our heads on each other's shoulders?
Why did we dream
While looking at the moonlit sky
By the shore of river?

Because we loved.
We loved each other so dearly.
Then o my heart
What is taking us apart now?

Did we come together
Only to be driven away from each other?
