Pieces Of You Poem by kelly kel

Pieces Of You

Thankful for the loss
Thankful for the pain
Grateful for the lessons
There is always something gained

In order to have love
There is always risk of loss
I wouldn't change a thing
Regardless of the cost

Holding on too tight, to learn to let go
Even in the darkness, we will surely grow.

True feelings can turn to fantasy, leading to illusion
Clarity and truth, can still be found from this confusion

Love so all-encompassing, I tried to make it stay
Slowly learning to release my grip,
And let it walk away

I learned that letting go, is part of being free
I will always cherish the pieces of you, that you gave to me

I hope you find the happiness and the love you truly need
I hope you meet your goals, and in all things you succeed

Immediately I recognized your heart, your soul-when I first looked upon your eyes

But some of the most significant hello's
come to teach you to accept life's goodbyes

I have no hard feelings, despite the pain my heart felt with each beat

I'll be forever grateful that our paths diverged, and our souls did meet

It was hard to walk away, but now I truly see-It was the pieces of you, that made me become complete

I wanted all of you, but I was not yet fully me
So now I let you go, we both are truly free

I know we met before, and until we meet again
I will cherish all the time we shared, and always call you friend

Maybe in another life, we will meet again
A spark of recognition- from the pieces of each other we hold within
