Picture Of You Poem by Alc Harris

Picture Of You

Rating: 3.8

I stare and I look at that picture of yours
The one where it looks as if the curtains are closed?
The one where your eyes so dark lost in thought
Where softness and beauty are perfectly caught.
And as I take it all in, my eyes start to wander
To the flowers that grace the walls over your shoulder
To imagine the photos that adorn these walls
Of happier days, parties and balls
Where time painted smiles across your face
And time was something you knew how to waste
Now every second of the grandfather clock
Is a precious moment but one in which you’re caught
Memories and dreams circle inside
Sometimes it seems easier, from them just to hide
To drown in the ocean of eternal hope
With solitude round your neck like a rope
But what I do see when I look in those eyes
I see your heart beating, strong and alive
I see a soul full and richer than kings
With more than gold in its offering
And no matter how deep the water gets
The song that is heard tells not of regrets
But of wishes and imaginings, sometimes a tale
On seas of Love these words often do sail
So I’ll stare and I’ll look at that picture of yours
Until time catches me up, I put it back in the drawer
And though again they look sad and distant, believe
Always your eyes look beautiful to me.
