Such sad, sorrowful suffering
Does my mind embrace
Each time I gaze upon your face

The lurid loneliness of time
Of years now gone by
And unanswered questions of why

What happened to the promises
On which I based hope
To keep from slipping down this slope?

They've gone the way of the righteous
Disappeared from sight
Leaving raw confusion and blight

And a fierce pounding in my head…
Oh! Cease and desist!
How my evil demons persist!

All this pain when I look at you…
I cant look away
I cant hold your image at bay

You are there when I close my eyes
Still there when I wake
The perfect picture of heartbreak
