This poem " Philip Le Barr" by Spike Milligan gives grief as well as humor. It has been chosen today as the modern poem of the poem of the day.

Spike Milligan was Britain's first alternative comedian. Check out his BBC 2 series called Q or the Q series. Madcap and brilliant comedy by a sadly missed comedy genius.

It tries to make us believe that life is stranger (and mysterious) than we think. But the imagery has an element of great fun and humour in it. Thanks.

Wonderful story of an unfortunate versified in a lighter vein, perhaps. A well deserved modern poem of the day.

A very strange poem which evokes a very amusing black humor!

Philippe Le Barrs was my uncle and worked with Spike. He was himself an excellent comic, artist, cartoonist, drummer and gymnast. He gave me my first drum kit and a zest for an independent life.
