Sandra...that last line. Nuanced and opens the poem to a whole other interpretation. And there is so much here. You have me thinking about the nature of philanthropy. Yes, on the one hand humanity has that impulse. We strive for equality and cooperation. On the other hand, we seek status and power. I am not completely sure, but those may be mutually exclusive. I know one person who flaunts his philanthropic credentials, and yet propose that he gets involved in a group, - his goal becomes to get to the top leadership position. This is a brilliant, thought provoking piece. A 10.

On this penultimate night of January your poem alerts us to what remains to be done. There are dark corners in our human nature that need to be flooded with light. There manipulative behaviors that must be checked. There is an atavistic need to dominate other people which is unworthy of a creative called HOMO SAPIENS. Let's get to work - in that Poets' Fraternity your poem of yesterday celebrates.
