Phantom Ride Poem by Bryan Taplits

Phantom Ride

The ride you gave me, Sweets,
Conveyed me to a new bliss,
But then I left and called another cab
To take me to where I'd missed.
Darn!
I never found your cab again
Severing our new start,
Hoping to find that enchanted first token
That had taken away my heart.
Until then, I guess, my dream-like search
Should stay what I had sought.
...For perhaps the destination of that first fare is true-
And is all that I had won-
and your prize is all that I bought.
