I ain't gonna try and pull your tail for that's just not my nature with this very riveting tale my attention you have capture thanks ging
As long as people do a critique of a work objectively, instead of going around and criticise someone with a personal attack, I assume the criticism is worthy. One should not have a 'holier than thou' attitude while finding merits and de-merits of a work of art. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed this much :)
what a talented way of expressing negative forces! Ph! ! ! it makes me smile too. Yes everyone wants to point their finger at someone. earlier it used to make me fall. sometimes a hundred times. Now criticism are like rungs of a ladder. Excellent figure of speech
You are so right yet it is one of the reasons why this site is so great. Thanks for sharing!
re PH: Critics by ging taping: Waiting for the Best and the Beast 'MASTERPIECE' ............good one! :) ============================================================ i haven't finished the poem yet, of course, (not yet, but i shall/will) . you wouldn't be talking about ME, would you? ? ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - from your poet's note: crit·i·cism noun \ˈkri-tə-ˌsi-zəm : the act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing: the act of criticizing someone or something : a remark or comment that expresses disapproval of someone or something : the activity of making careful judgments about the good and bad qualities of books, movies, etc. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - actually, you can take your pick of which definition you want to think of when i, or another PH member criticizes something in a poem. but LOOK at the third selection in the criticism definition, above in Ging's poet's note. : the activity of making careful judgments about the good and bad qualities of books, movies, etc..... you see that this definition mentions the good as well as the bad. i do try to do both sometimes, though it may seem to the one being criticized that only bad things are being mentioned. i like to think of my criticism as constructive criticism *****. of course, if a poet or a doctor or a mailman is not open to suggestions/criticism, then the criticism will probably never be constructive, no matter how much the critic meant for it to be. i've read the comments which came before this one. i agree with some of what Cynthia wrote and disagree with some of it. Donnie, if he knew me well, would never say nasty things about me, unless he just needed to say nasty things for his own benefit/enjoyment. that said, i never heard of him, and he is welcome to his point of view/opinion. i DON'T know if i am the subject of any of this, though i used to (and for some still do) give what i hoped was constructive criticism to Ging and many others. Donnie mentions the option of using messaging on PH to send criticism to a poet. i have done this at times once i know that particular poets are sensitive to my using comments that others can see. BUT, i have a very good reason to post critical remarks (good and bad) in comments. that is because, as a student in a classroom may benefit from a teacher critiquing another student's work (or lack of it) , a poet-reader or just a reader may benefit from my words. especially when i know that the english skills of many, including native-speakers of english (which includes ME as well) are NOT perfect, as John points out, i leave comments hoping that the errors of one poet are not passed onto another who does not know any better and who trusts PH poems to be accurate in english usage. please, Ging, do not ask me to spank you in a nice way. my wife is looking over my shoulder, ..... holding a club! thanks, all, for sharing. oh yeah, back to the poem. :) ============================================================================ ***** i found this article quite interesting :) bri from Wikipedia: Constructive criticism From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It has been suggested that this article be merged into Criticism. (Discuss) Proposed since December 2013. This article is written like a personal reflection or opinion essay that states the Wikipedia editor's particular feelings about a topic, rather than the opinions of experts. Please help improve it by rewriting it in an encyclopedic style. (July 2012) Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. In collaborative work, this kind of criticism is a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards. Constructive criticism must always focus on the work rather than the person. Personality issues must always be avoided. Constructive criticism is more likely to be embraced if the criticism is timely, clear, specific, detailed and actionable.[1][2] Especially sensitive individuals may adopt a passive, defeated attitude if they view a situation as personal, pervasive, or permanent (see learned helplessness) . Others may adopt an aggressive response. In an online forum lacking face-to-face contact, constructive criticism is rare. People criticize the style of writing and grammar, and based on that often make assumptions about the person. They write without consideration for how their opinion will be received, which is not consistent with the idea of constructive criticism. Effective interpersonal communication skills can be helpful to assess the recipient's frame of mind. Adopting the most effective style of criticism should be tempered by the cultural context, the recipient's personality, and nature of the relationship between provider and recipient. To assess a situation, one should put out exploratory feelers and adopt a perceptive rather than judgmental attitude; conflict resolution skills can be helpful. As a recipient of criticism, one can benefit by focusing on the constructive elements of the criticism and by attributing charitable interpretations to those who use strong language. By adopting an open attitude to criticism, one may achieve greater personal development and help uncover blind spots. Alternatively, such openness may be subjected to ridicule especially in a cynical or honor-based culture. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ok, i've finished the poem, and i am finished with it. if i have any criticism i shall direct it via message. thanks for sharing. :) bri
Critic n 1. One who forms and expresses judgments of the merits, faults, value, or truth of a matter. 2. One who specializes especially professionally in the evaluation and appreciation of literary or artistic works: a film critic; a dance critic. 3. One who tends to make harsh or carping judgments; a faultfinder.
A very interesting observation. Literary critics review a written work - they do not criticize. To review means to assess objectively the merits or flaws of a work for the main purpose of improvement and perhaps, applauding its excellence. To criticize, on the other hand, is to simply find fault and make the writer feel attacked by stressing the errors instead of suggesting corrections, needed editing, or pointing out some grammatical blunders (yes they are appalling) . When we post on the web - we can expect people to comment (not necessarily criticize) and they have that freedom to say what they think. Some writers do write the most grammatically shocking sentences that will really turn English teachers from their graves. Perfect grammar is always a requirement in writing and we cannot change that rule unless we write in our own language. Learning to write correct grammar is a challenge and a possibility we all can achieve, and correction is the first step to that.
Aloha Ging... It is not so much of them being critics... but more of the snide nature of their limited bloodlines and social delusions about the level of their worth to anyone else that truly counts... in a few words or less... The Critic's Snipes by Michaelw1two elusive creatures comprehension's rude tweakers mumble mindlessly I have gathered together a few websites which could allow you to certify your works before posting... seems this works for me... Thank you for your efforts to show US that being a critic does not allow one to be critically abusive on any level... all of the best from this life, to you, and all of your relations... Michael.
De nada my friend. One more thing just to show you they mean ill will, if they truly wanted to aid you, there is private messaging on here. And I'm pretty sure we've messaged so your settings work. Just make sure you block em, it feels so good to block an idiot. Very freeing... ;)
You said it. ' No one is perfect' Even the critics. Thanks for sharing this piece.
So focus on your own tale.. Let me pull my own tail.. that is very nice.... for all who try to criticise the poets, this shall be a warning....... thank you dear poetess.
