People Who Think They Are Unexpendable Poem by Francis Duggan

People Who Think They Are Unexpendable

People who think they are unexpendable does tend to forget
That an unexpendable human being has not been born as of yet
Many wealthy and famous people to the ways of time have gone
And humanity as usual without them goes on
The remains of many people who thought they were unexpendable in cemeteries lay
And the World as usual goes on without them today
They did not live to find out that thought had proved them wrong
The title of unexpendable to any human being does not belong
That human beings are expendable death leaves none in doubt
And though many may be missed they have to be done without
Those who think they are unexpendable are not very wise
Since they too are replaceable they fail to realize
People who think they are irreplaceable tend to forget
That the irreplaceable person has not been born as of yet.
