ERNESTINE! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I was just about to use the onion line when you egged your way in. You eggomaniacal eggcentric! Allan could talk about eggswives and Mary would cry even without the onions. If you eggstend or eggstrapolate this you will find that all gems do, best H

That's eggactly what I'd eggpect of you Mary, a great eggample of how eggshelling can bring back such memories. People have such odd habits, expecially the older generations, which one never forgets. At least peeling eggs is better than peeling onions for instance. You have to cry with those. Eggasperating aren't I. Ha! Ha! Good write by the way. Loved it. Love Eggnestine! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! XXX

Mary, I think you have found a strength in telling short stories. You do it well. Just checked with my wife. When you start the process of boiling eggs, do it slowly, let them boil for two or three minutes, turn off the heat, let them set for three or four more minutes. Run cold water over them to cool them to room temperature. Then do the roll it on the counter thingy. Also, she says she has heard that a tablespoon of vinegar in the boiling water helps keep them from cracking. Well, that's what the Boss says. Keep peeling out those stories Mary Rusty

This is brilliant Mary you have taken to free verse really well and this is a great example. As with the majority of your work, it exhudes warmth that one can feel. That you can take such a mudane labour as peel eggs and take the reader on an excursion, is a coup. Incidently, if you are into films. there is an outstanding scene in the film 'Angel Heart' where Mickey Rourke is talking to Robert De Niro, who is peeling an egg. When you realise the significance of what De Niro is doing, you could never see peeling eggs in the same light again.
