I see the world for what it is now,
The wind that brings a ship to shore
And carries the storm to sink it
A glass pearl under the weight
Of the waters of the deep
For which many men have died
We're all in the dark
Grabbing hands and promising,
'I'll hold tight; I won't ever let you go'
I find these words mean nothing
When those hands that gave you hope
Find something more solid to cling to
We've always let each other go
As if we've never meant a thing
We've tied the anchor 'round our necks
And thrown each other to the sea
As I lay here bleeding
Broken bones and swollen eyes
I just watch as even good men pass me by
As the waves crash over me
And the water fills my lungs
I'll give myself to the abyss
And after all of this rage,
And after all this bitter pain,
I am the pearl in your eyes.
