You are fond of peaches and you have named your pet furry cat (or could be a dog) 'Peach'. On calling her by the name, she comes running and you are happy that she is a good listener and naughty too (gnaws at the sofa) . A poem that allows the readers to think and come out with different interpretations!
Peaches sounds like such a pet! Purrfect companion and doggone pleased to see you! Love this piece! 10
stanza 1: i thought/think you meant fruits stanza 2: punctuation would help me to NOT misread this. stanza 3: Ok, maybe " Peaches" is a squirrel, a mouse, or a rat? and which other animal gets " Peaches" treats buried in its fur: cat, goat, or rabbit? ? ? I noticed this title on the Home page, to which i'm rarely drawn. i decided to read the poem because " Peaches" is a woman's nickname in a novel i'm now reading. bri :)
Thank you, Bri! How is Peaches (in the novel, I mean) ? And this verse has multiple meanings to me, with more than one 'peach'. Punctuation- that enemy (well, that's maybe exaggeration) of figurative language! ! ! - it would preclude at least 3 readings of stanza 2.
OH to be blessed with a beautiful pet (I believe a dog- maybe a cat) I have the pleasure of a joyful dog. Bravo!
Thank you, LeeAnn...and yes, one of the peaches is a truly friendly fuzzball pet.
Nice poem. As it is discussed in other comments, some hidden references make this poem more beautiful. And peachea plus a good listener is an additional and worth quality.
Thank you so much, Muhammad. And yes, there are (plural) peaches to love...
The sweetie must be as soft and in peach colour as well... How cute to read and to imagine the lovely cat running when the name called, and gnawl, i just almost imagine that vividlly by reading yours. The cuteness of what you felt and the cat itself (maybe other pet) are well transfered by words. Effective! Another side of you that i dont see in other poem, a sweet animal lover! .
Thank you so much, Soul. Yes, the fuzzball in question was indeed a nice peach colour. But as Richard mentioned, it might include another possibility, and it does!
How sweet it is to be loved by you! Do pets love their owners less or more than owners loving their pets? Doesn't really matter. The loyalty between the two is unbelievable! M.J., this is truly a fine tribute to loyalty. Congrats on yet another winner! And what makes it an even bigger winner is that Peaches could be a female human being. How's that for interpretation? !
That is a brilliant insight, Richard! The history of this poem started out as three different things/issues. I realised there is a connection....or connections. Thank you so much, Richard.
Thank you so much, Valsa. And indeed, there is more than one peach...
