Peace Without Freedom Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Peace Without Freedom

masses o' hornets
now gather on our borders
awaiting orders

Genghis will be as nothing
Huns like a kinder-garden

for line has been crossed
the point o' no return passed
a final curtain

what is peace without freedom
another caged animal

how I weep for thee
and the innocent children
never had a chance

oh, the folly of it all
do die without a reason

killing and killing
as so much blood is spilling
where is the loving

what good is their victory
if there is no liberty

the great wave will come
wash away everyone
a new time begun

the darkest day o' winter
upon us all will splinter

melancholy thoughts
how I long I could avoid
this nightmarish void

which does haunt me in the night
when the rest are tucked in tight

sometimes I do wish
I was ignorant o' this
wouldn't that be bliss

knowledge can be misery
to see mankinds destiny

starvation, war, thirst
above us warheads burst
society cursed

no one to blame but ourselves
we invited the devil

pray to your false gods
but it will come to nothing
it has been written

beat the testosterone drums
ignite the blind emotions

you know the story
old myths through out history
now reality

again marching of to war
torn fay their brethren, mothers

another lost cause
to die on those foreign shores
for criminal lords

who abuse their own people
preach lies from pulpit, steeple

a fate so tragic
o' great Hollywood magic
ruthless, psychotic

our leaders so despotic
callous, sociopathic

desert fields o' blood
flesh and bone trodden in mud
for our crown to rob

while they feast in banquet hall
they never answered the call

armchair warriors
these knights in shining armour
a worm nay lower

our youth with poppy flower
ground into fertilizer

while they hide in their,
gold palaces and towers
these traitors cowards
