Peace In Our Time? Poem by David Wood

Russian nerves have become frayed
As their missile stocks become depleted
And their generals unable to fight and
Win a modern land war.

The UN has become as impotent as
A castrated ram offering no solutions
To end the Russo-Ukraine war where
Ukrainian forces are beating the Russian's.

In most large Russian cities civilians are
Still protesting and shouting ‘No to War.'
And getting arrested and jailed, and
More Russians have fled mobilisation

Than were conscripted. With an isolated
Russia, this is the time when a nuclear
Miscalculation could very easily happen.
The UN needs to get a grip on the situation

And brings opposing sides together because
The reality of a nuclear conflict is so awful
Where no side would win and life on the only
Inhabited planet in the solar system

Could very easily cease to exist. All for what?
One man's ego? ? ? …….
