TO: Mr Hashmuhh Mehta
Thank you very much, and especially to Mr. Mehta for gifting me an excellent poem on such an out and out prosaic matter. It has been rightly observed, “It is matched with greed / We have not paid any heed / We removed one dictator / But many have emerged as mentors. However, it is important that we identify where the ‘greed’ is. It is in the ‘majoritarian democracy’ in Europe which is indifferent to the sensitivities of minorities, even though they are a legacy of imperialism in Africa particularly. This has been fueled by the deceptive panacea of ‘globalization & privatization’ which has indeed fueled terrorism. Now, America is the creator of Al Qaida which is an open secret to-day. They heavily armed Talibans to drive out the Russians and the process of birth of Al Qaida started.
Hindusthan Standard was a popular daily till it closed about 50 years back of which Mr. Niranjan Majumdar was my favorite columnist. On his first visit to America Majumdar observed, “There has been too much concentration of power to use it wisely and well”. He was amazingly prophetic!
