Passages Poem by Gordon R Menzies

Passages

She blithely travels the roadways
of my senses like a vagabond
hovers over my skin like an aurora
she assails every guarded path
leading to my miserable heart
Traitorous eyes,forced shut
kindle the light of her endlessly
sending her sickle smile below
Rebel ears, revel in her mouthsong
catch her moody breath as it leaves
moving through throat and lip
teasing me with recall and lilt
Turncoat fingers resonate, hot
with the resilient touch of memory
these Pictish whorls call for her
and sell their simple singularity
for just one more loving caress
Backstabbing nostrils arch
arch and draw, portcullis passage
to my dancing mind, where all
the pieces of her assemble
in the drifting incense of desire
Apostate damnable tongue
who will have no other taste
since tasting her, has fallen
The lock of every door has failed
every nerve and vein has led
her by my secret guarded ways
to my defenceless heart
unguarded by reason or will
these resolutes have flown
every beat is a weary sigh
She is Bathsheba dripping blue
She is Cleopatra in the carpet
passing all, and rising up
Heart surrenders, betrayed
at every turn, on every hand
