Parting Poem by Anne Yun

Parting

Rating: 5.0

The rain walks barefoot in the lonesome streets
And you, walk in the lonesome rain
Leaves are beckoning in the whistling wind
Waving you in a window, two lonesome hearts within
Yours thumps on mine, night, falls between

Wow! This poem is related to the one called YOUR VOICE: they are both poems of tender appeal, subtle and understated, but barely containing powerful feelings inside. I absolutely love the opening image: what a unique way to identify the setting of your poem - a rainy autumn night - but also to identify the prevailing emotional tone. And the very word LONELINESS wanders through the lines of the poem, spreading its sadness over the whole experience. It is a wonderful way to show how we must continue to take action in the outside world despite the weight we have to carry bravely. // Farewell Poems populate Chinese anthologies; this is your contribution to that strand of poetic practice.

In some time of some days, sadness and loneliness might strike to us, feelings inside can be unshackled all in a sudden, i wrote this to reach to relief, although by pure imagination.

Sad but beautiful. I feel you Anne. The moment of parting will bring the new longing for reunion. Cheer up.

Sad but nice. Short and beautiful. Loved it.
