Paper Hearts In The Wind Poem by Lovely Enchantress

Paper Hearts In The Wind

I built a fortress with walls so high
You were right, my love
I only asked you for one thing
Knowing deep in my heart that you wouldn't give it up for me
Not even for yourself

The choices we make
You were numbing the pain
Those thorns over your heart
You thought I never knew
I always knew, I was your truth

It's hard to love one that doesn't want to be loved or feel worthy of it
One that only saw the surface and not the depth
I laid naked and insecure before you
The one who held me like a sin

I suffered the same with the distance we made
For what? To hold our pride
We should had held eachother tight
Instead we pushed eachother away
Still missing you
We were paper hearts in the wind
