Never thought I'd see the day
my best friend, my claimed soulmate
would stab me in the heart,
and look me straight in the eye
whilst twisting the knife.
Tears fell like rain, a deluge
of pain, my witness to the ache
that pained me. I tried to hold
it in, but the thorns in my throat
choked me, a suffocating grip.
Memories of her true colors
haunt me gold, a facade of wealth,
a selfish glint that I ignored,
fearful of being left alone.
Now, I see the signs, the warnings
I chose to disregard. But I'm free
from the weight of saving her
from her own darkness, her own sea.
I hope to find forgiveness in my heart
for her, but only if she deserves
the mercy I'm willing to impart.
