She came home (hint, hint) ** from having lunch with an old friend,
………..and, unable to bring her praise of the ‘new' eatery to an end,
she mentioned seeing ‘clam chowder', with VISIBLE flesh of clam! !
Well (‘after all')it WAS "clam" chowder, so it'd be not beef nor ham!

There are many things I could say about this poem, but I think I will just clam up.

Douglas, NOW ya tell me! ! ! i ate a lot of that soup, growing up; i don't know where my mom got the 'secret ingredient', but...she did have five husbands die, before she married my dad. hmm? no wonder i produced so many sons and daughters so quickly! ! ! but i at least spread them out amongst three of my wives and a few 'others'. then the judge ordered the vasectomy. bri :)
Real life is always more intense than anything we think we can imagine. This is a terrific poem, Bri. Had me laughing from the first line....and perhaps even most impressive....The poet notes are themselves a version of the poem...a poem unto itself. To myfavourites! PS..I think Eric Idle would approve....'Wink, wink, nudge, nudge...Know what I mean? eh? eh? Know what I mean?
