Own's Own Poem by Kyrl Karanja

Own's Own

Rating: 5.0

Tired in a field all alone
The white heifer lowing in a low tone
The ticks slowly sucking the life out of it
Filled with a feeling that she's on an ait
For every single drop of blood, they suck
Risky she considers every available tack
She's heard trying hard to fight
The farmer watching helplessly with site
In a tick, the ticks beguiled the farmer
To look the other way and not to be their harmer
And allow them to get some blood
They said just for a while and they'd be glad
And he blindly agreed to let them
She wondered how he could let 'em
The beginning of the wretched life of the innocent farmer
To the ticks, it's been like an amour
From which only they have the right to benefit
That the last day the heifer was fit
Slowly life runs out of the heifer
Trust for her has become a story from Haifa
All the farmer's hard work will go in vain
And he no longer has power over his reign
