O, what tangled webs these mortals weave. That's the spirit Puck in MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Not being human, he cannot comprehend how (and why) we let our emotions rule our lives. But Kerouac is the one who takes this propensity for extreme emotional behavior to the nth degree. And thereby stretches the possibilities of being human. The consequences include both sweetness and suffering. That's why we call it PASSION. This is an amazing biographical detail! ! It reveals so much to me.
