Overwhelming Desire Poem by Melissa Hurst

Overwhelming Desire

'Mina, all the more farther
I curse thy name unto the Father!

Cursing Cupid has no pity
upon hearts he pierces aimlessly,
this arrow disembowels me unmercifully!

My heart hangs down my chest
'Tis painful to touch the exposed organ,
What lord can I find to bargain?
Please, cure my heart's ailment, gods and idols!

'Mina, the cause of my trembling bowels
and downtrodden spirit,
I wish you to know all that is foul
and be immersed in spit.

O, my soul I would barter for an icy heart!
I would love to know the taste of slandering words
that tear your memory to shreds
To laugh afterwards would be the cure.

Damn desire lingers
A yearning resides to caress thy fingers,
To immerse them with mine
and be merry in the pines.

The spell of thy memory is here to haunt,
But wait till my breath halts
and it will be you that I taunt!
