Hazel i think maybe you misinterpreted the poem. i think it is in fact about the passing away of two lovers, who enter the afterlife as one soul combined, maybe deeper down implying that us on our own are incomplete, and only until we find our match on earth may we pass into the afterlife peacefully.... maybe this can even be considered the meaning of life, the unity of a man and woman. loved this poem, i had to read it over a few times to understand it. very well done and all the best!
