Our cows and men toil very hard,
To thresh paddy in the harvest yard,
You 'Lockdown' yourselves and others,
While we toil for you, oh our big brothers!

Very true words Sir. Farmers are paid less only and go hungry. Yes their life is difficult. Beautiful words Sir.

A meaningful poem with a wonderful photograph. Farmers feed the country but they are given the least importance. My heart goes out to them. A poem of great value and significance......Thank you dear Poet......10

Farmers are the most marginalised group in the society though they feed the entire human population. They don't have any leisure or break from the tedium of hard work. Their entire life is a gamble on the weather and climate. After all the risk, they do not get enough price for their crops. This poem on the hardships of farmers is heart touching!

@Valsa George, Thank you so much for saying in your comment whatever I wanted to say in the poem, except your last sentence. I am so privileged to have your comment on this poem, and so much inspired by it!

A heart wrenching plea of the farmers. While we enjoy all the benefits of life not giving any credit to the farmers. Nothing changed for them. As long as these middlemen are reaping the benefits things are not going to change. Govt should step in to bridge the gap between farmers and the consumers for fair dealings.

@Arzoo Mehek, 'Govt should step in to bridge the gap between farmers and the consumers for fair dealings.' - Thanks for the suggestion. That is possible only when the Govt. is a people's Govt. What is the meaning of your name? 'Mehek' is a new word for me.

At half price we sell our harvest to the middlemen Who carry those to you, while hungry we remain! ........excellently written on the sorrowfulness of farmers' life....middlemen in market price controller are always out of reach (kept) and poor farmers are dying always!

@Mahtab Bangalee, 'At half price we sell our harvest to the middlemen' - I thought vegetables and perishables were being sold at less than a quarter price, compared to the growers' cost with the Capital's market price. Thanks for the appreciative comment, much inspired!
