Our life on Earth is a God given boon
It should be skillfully set to tune
Both beauty and charm it should enclose
And should smell fragrant like a red, red rose

Know, life is a dispenser of joy and grief Both we have to accept as they shift brief In gloom, hope there is a better day in wait Too much of anything can our soul sedate.......loved these lines. Most meaningful. Brilliant expression. Visited time and again.

Really our lives on Earth are the boons of God. We enjoy our lives here with happiness and gloom, love and hatred. You have rightly said that life is a dispenser of joy and grief. A brilliant poem on Life has been astutely delineated by you. Thank you dear madam.

4 - ok, the poem does give some responsibility for individuals to work on having good lives, not always expecting great (or even good) days. bri :) line 5: i'm glad the poet did NOT push for a rhyming end word line 6: i suggest " ..sacrifice is now..." line 11: i suggest " in store" , not " in wait"

3- " welkin's bow" ? i had to Google search. i think it may refer to a rainbow. " welkin" : " In older cosmology this was thought to be one of a set of real crystal spheres that enclosed the Earth" [i bet Valsa has read Shakespeare and other OLD writers' stuff] the “sphere”, I think, may be called a “bowl” also.

1 - " It should be skillfully set to tune" i THOUGHT that was God's job. She has failed us i guess! ! ! (i mean God. Of course God IS female! ! !) or maybe tune doesn't mean comfort or happiness/et al. OR maybe the “tune” was set correctly, but it got upset? The Devil (also a She) did it? ! !

Life is a blessing which gives us so much joy and hope, beauty and charm, love and friendship, though sometimes with a tinge of gloom and sorrow. Following lines are very close to the reality of life which should be devoted to care and compassion for all mankind: Know, life is a dispenser of joy and grief Keep away from the grip of spite and hate.

Life being a riddle unexplained though many a time looked into has a terrific charm that makes us cling to it or a terrible phase that we can never skip ever. An insightful poem from you again Valsa madam and I am giving a flat 10..

A great poem, we get one life, we need to make the most of it, or before we know it, it will be over.

What must be the true values those are to be followed in life and way of life beautifully told in the poem by the great poetess. In fact it has relations to the philosophical contexts of great thinkers who gave the signals to lead a contented life together with the duties and responsibilities one has to follow. Great knowledge and awareness that gets from the poem and likes it in that sense.
