Our Future In Their Tommies Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Our Future In Their Tommies

Rating: 5.0

When the children drink soured pap for breakfast
Eat unripe mangoes for lunch
Harvest unmature cassava for supper
The failure of the elders is no longer in doubt
Who ate the future of their children too soon.

Really a heart-rending account of the poverty and deprivation persisting in the country. " failure of the elders ….Who ate the future of their children too soon." Very sharp focused poetry..
