You stayed with me as a fond memory.
The green feathers and your chattering.
I know you were angry when we pulled your tail
and tormented you inside the cage.

Bharati ma'am you reminded me of my friend's experience. She also had a parrot a family member but one day it was gone and couldn't be traced back. Beautiful.

This is a very sensitive poem that the near and dear lovely parrot flew away and didn't return back for which whole family members are sheding tears. I wrote..... Perhaps you did not know How to return Perhaps you did not know And would never know We were crying Mother and we Waiting. This beautiful poem has value more that I made second visit. Thanks again.

As is customary now, I say I was brought here by Bri's Showcase. God! Wonderful and sad poem. Almost shed a tear, and that's no small accomplishment for any poem, given that I can be accurately called 'borderline cynic'!

Oh, but this lovely poem brought back memories of our parakeet. It was my pet and my enchantment with it lasted until I got my first horse and then it was bye bye birdie and hello world of the horse! Luckily Mom enjoyed Petey and he loved her back with all his birdy affection. God has created an abundance of animals with whom we can share our lives... thank you for sharing your experiences with your family's parrot. They certainly become part of the family story, don't they?

What an amazing narrative about a caged pet parrot- adored by all in the family in the first part and missed by all when it flies away. Very emotional. But the following expression is simply the winner- You did not come back / Perhaps you did not know / How to return

Bitter-sweet memories recalled in fondness. Emotional attachment with a pet is natural n beautiful. A heart-touching write. I also had kittens as pets. Their memory stays with me to this day. A lovely trip down the memory lane. An evocative piece.10

The cage was shut from outside. But you could easily open it from inside and enjoy the pleasure of freedom at your own will... I am so happy that the bird could handle the cage from inside to get freedom. Once the bird got out but didn't return and it was great grief for the poetess's family... heart touching depiction. Many thanks dear Bharati for posting such a lovely poem...10
