(CONT.) One's concept of beauty can vary greatly from another's concept of beauty. if YOU were a pebble, or even a PIECE of pebble, i WOULD be tempted to take you home with me. i could always discard you back to the road side/road's side/roadside! ! ! ! i've already discarded OR been discarded by several wives. :) to MyPoemList. bri (:

Visiting your poems again, Bharati, and was attracted to this title. I strongly relate to the idea of it; I’ve written several poems that embody the idea; among the titles are Nothing Ordinary Snowflakes On Stars and Fame My Backyard. Of course you’re not ordinary. There’s a saying I like— To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world. And I notice that here in PH you are known and appreciated by many. Love keep you. Glen

Hi Bharati, A pabble is not an ordinary piece of stone. Its sharp corners are rounded by the flow of the river that carries it from the birth, by rubbing it off on hard surfaces. Yes, the river called 'life' and its harsh realities. These experiences kindle the creative energy. Your poems are witnesses to them. As Rajendranji has mentioned, we all pass by your exquisite poems, and may be, pick up pebble here or there. And try to read OUR life in them. Loved reading. Thank you.

Thank you Sri Unnikrishnan E.S. for your nice comment..The way you explained the roundness of pebble as our wisdom gained through experience is really wonderful.

I wholly agree with Daniel's comments on this poem. From the simple image emerges a depth of meaning. Pebbles start ripples after all. Beautiful poem.

This poem contains the best kind of moral lesson because it is expressed in a narrative that quietly proves the point. The pebble is not preaching, it is merely stating the reality of its existence; we immediately trust this voice of experience. The simplicity and lack of pretense are so refreshing in this age of overtstement

Like an artist can see extra ordinary beauty in a very common object and brings to focus that beauty on his canvas, your comments many times add that aesthetic touch to simple writings.Thank you very much for your beautiful comment.

Such a beautiful write. I agree with naseerudheen that it's an extraordinary write. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. You have brought Shakespeare's words to life with this gem of a piece. A big 10.

Any pebble that is anything like you will NOT be ordinary. Not in the least. That said, let's say that the pebble is truly unremarkable in color, markings, etc. I have found that the most ordinary stone is gorgeous when wet. So if you want to see the real person, just dump a bucket of water over their head. Okay, I am factious here. But people can be so attractive when smiling at a child, when painting a scenic picture, when offering another person their place in line- - just cannot judge the attractiveness of people by their appearance- -actions reveal so much more. Lovely poem, as usual, Bharati. 10+++++++++++

Thank you Jesus James Llorico for your wonderful comment. It is said beauty is skin deep. What counts is virtue, that is inner quality representing our total being.
