Orchid Blooms In My Garden Comments

Rating: 4.9

On a bright morning I was greeted warm
By a host of flowers of the self same hue
Smiling disarmingly from an orchid wild
With their white petals washed in dew

Verses as beautiful as the sunbathed orchids. The last stanza depicts a particularly beautiful imagery!

This is so gorgeous! ! ! ! Comes out of that gorgeous soul of yours! ! ! ====> Like festoons hung down from the turquoise sky, They dangled down, bathed in sun's early rays. As they stood nodding at every gust of wind, I stayed nonplussed admiring their simple grace. < ===== That is poetic genius! ! ! 10++++++++

A poem that is as beautiful as the flowers themselves. It has lovely lines like in a lilting song: 'Like festoons hung down from the turquoise sky' We doff our hats at a truly gifted poet! .

what a gift! i love such surprises! and something to lift a somber mood and remind us that beauty and goodness outweigh the world's negatives—though even a little beauty is enough to lift our hearts. glad to read this one last, valsa. -glen

Yes, it was indeed a sight that lifted my 'somber mood' As a lover of Nature, you could perfectly understand the effect this gift from Nature could create in me. Thanks a lot Glen!

p.s. my wife has grown lovely orchids indoors in a pot. i think they don't like too much water. we are in northern California, not India. in response to V's response to Indira's comment: I eat any snails i see moving towards the plant. bri :)

Thank you Bri......! Two creatures that repulse me most are house lizards and snails! If you eat away snails, I shall pack a few and send them to you!

i AIN'T an orchid expert, but i didn't think their stems were delicate. However, I AM! ! One definition is " easily broken" ; i was thinking of that one. But another is " very fine in texture or structure" that one? " They put my weary heart into a state of calm." Try opium poppies! " nonplussed has an 'informal N. American' definition almost the opposite of the 'usual' definition! ! ! ! bri :)

Some orchids have delicate stems, some are sturdy! You are a great linguist as I always feel.... probing into the very core of language. I didn't know 'nonplussed' has an opposite meaning! Greetings to you Bri.... my teacher on 5th September, celebrated as Teacher's Day in India!

My daughter who is interested in gardening tried to grow orchids some years ago but only in vain...I think it needs a special climate and a lot of care....you are lucky to have such a beautiful sight...I can very well visualize how much an inviting and welcoming scene it is like your poem of this and its picture...great work Valsa...like it a lot

Orchids need a lot of care. Also they need the ideal amount of sunshine.... not too much and not too little. Also we have to guard them against the snails that come to eat away the buds. Thanks a lot Indira ji for your lovely comment!

A fantastic expression has been made on orchid flowers and nature. The arena of the beginning stanza is much haunting. How the scattered flowers make your weary heart into a state of calm is well executed in third stanza. It may be cited...Scattered here n' there, not in neat array / They verily had an unusual charm. / Chanting in chorus, songs of lilting tunes, / They put my weary heart into a state of calm. Beautiful poem.10

A brilliant and spontaneous expression of owe and wonders at Nature's wonders. All the five quatrains express themselves so well with the second and the fourth lines rhyming discreetly.

Something brought me back to this beautiful poem, and then to my feedback, and the typo 'owe', We human kind are so much in a hurry, we have no time for details, Instead of looking for other good poems, which I am sure there must be, from your list, I revisit one I know.

Great personification of the vivaciousness of flowers and the vivid experiences and sensations we can have consuming their bursts and flutters amidst the winds and shining sun! Great poem!
