Optimistic Nihilism Poem by Mater Umbrarum

Optimistic Nihilism

Isn't it truly a revelry?
That we all get to live
In such a state that, to be
Is to possess a gift ready to give?

Isn't it wonderful?
That by the doom that awaits us
We are freed from constraints plentiful
And forgetfulness becomes the remedy for all that once was?

For if all is forgotten, and what comes past
will never in a human's mind live
No boundaries to a soul could then be cast
So the end of all, becomes something not to grieve

In the abstract nothingness of a distant tomorrow
When our galaxy by its central darkness is swallowed
No lives lived matter, which would be a sorrow
If not for the realization that under no limits, one's life could be followed

For what consequences could be imputed
To those who no longer are?
And whose memory would be left to be disputed
If all humanity has by then fallen, been turned to tar?

So live your life as you do
For all you do, has been done
And if not so, just the same will come through
For remembered at the end, neither will be for anyone
