Only I Can Hear Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Only I Can Hear

Last night I had a dream
that we got married &
that I passed away.
I thought back to when
we we're kids accustomed
to the best times of my life.
While I took your hand you
became every thought,
everything that I could imagine,
& everything that I could not.
That when I got to heaven.
The roads paved in gold was
not enough.
I wish that God could understand.
I wish that you could understand
the notes that you've played on
the piano of not just my heart,
But soul.
I will always love this song that
seamlessly only I can hear.
Last night in my dreams,
we danced to this song all
through the reception,
Finally understanding the lyrics
shared between your body & mine.
In that same dream I passed
away before I could wake up,
to look over you & to protect
you at all times.
Seamlessly, a song only I can hear
