I've had my heart broken
One time too many
From living with love,
To not having any.
It's surely not healthy
This yo-yo existence
From feast to famine,
From riches to pittance.
Being pulled by extremes
Is exacting a toll.
It's hard to bounce back,
With the punches to roll.
I wonder why
I don't give up on love
My heart is a fighter,
Without boxing gloves.
Can't let my heart down
When it chooses to cope.
Once again, I give in
To that glimmer of hope,
And let my heart win.
We thirst for love. Every human needs it! But love in good time will fall on one's lap! That glimmer of hope keeps us going! An excellent write and well-executed dear poetess. Enjoyed! 10!
Thank you, Aqua. Good to hear from you! Love is essential to all living things, even to our pets. We wither and die without it! (P, S: We certainly hope that 'good time' arrives, before that glimmer of hope is extinguished!)
Can't let my heart down When it chooses to cope. Once again, I give in To that glimmer of hope, And let my heart win. ......... beautiful expression..

I love the imagery used in this poem. I also used to wonder why, with all the hurt going on
