If we search for truth, we cannot depend on others to tell it to us.
We can read, we can get guidance from the books but our most wonderful progress in the search for truth is made when we manage to make it silent, to make our mind silent and listen to our heart and our most inner voice. I think we can learn something from most religions but not from every person within each religion.
