Very well done. I especially like the way you ended it: A man may wait for a thousand days, Because of a thousand ways to be wrong; But when one-in-a-thousand wings his way, He'll know her by the melody of her song.
bill, having spent some of this time between xmas and new year reading lyrics and listening to songs by hoagy carmichael, bob dylan, and bruce cockburn, it strikes me this poem could work as a song. glen kappy p.s. before reading this one i read your poem about leon and leonard. it has similarities to one of mine, listening to genius loves company christmas morning 2004. -gk
