One Day Upon An Old Rugged Cross
One day upon an old rugged cross
A humbled, honored Son
Became obedient unto death
His work on earth was done
He took our sin and shook it
Until its effect expired
And in turn provided a so great Salvation
So that He could lift us higher
What a name is Jesus Christ
There's peace at the foot of the Cross
Forgiveness flowing from His wounds
What wondrous love to us
All our condemnation...gone!
The moment of our belief
And joy unspeakable and full of glory
The wonder of such relief!
My soul has found His magnetic power
When I drew nigh to Him
He came rushing by His Spirit
To let this sinner in!
O gladly I proclaim it
Praise God Lord Jesus saves!
Only one name given under Heaven
To inherit the gift of praise
May my tongue not cease from telling
May my heart not fail in prayer
To bring that blessed gospel truth
To those who are near and afar
Lord may Your Word bring awakening
Beginning Lord in me
As I daily experience the blessings of God
And in His great love for me!
Hallelujah what a Saviour!
