One Day Older! Poem by Long Tooth

One Day Older!

I don't say it often and yet, it is true, that with each dawn that breaks
Though I'm closer to death, (be it deep in my soul) I am grateful!
Unfinished creation, I bask in Your smile as fresh growth floats my way,
(Though eternity's flow may contrast with this world) . Still, I'm peaceful!
A lover whose choice (and significant voice) means to spend time away,
Though each nugget I find's just a memory's trace of Love's sweepstakes!

The gold that I mine, with my labor refine, seems to bring on more debt!
Paradoxical too, I desire time with You, with no ego,
A breath of the sea, I brave mountain and plain (just to stream home again!)
And I dream of your charms though no one leaves the arms of amigo!
Are there dangers in falls, traps of glacial snows! Water mired in a glen?
Time's an arrow whose speed and direction are known just to kismet!

A fantastic dream that I'm ever alone though all aid I'd annul!
Like a child with a blindfold who pins donkey's tail on, the ending
I search for, like ether engulfs me, the a*s that I covet's my own!
It's the 'me' God imagined before coins were cast Time's now spending!
Just Faith, (and Christ's Grace) for no works born of pride know the way to atone.
Now Christ's love conquers Sin for the fruits of His Death are eternal!
