One Day Is The Same As Any Other - Change The Date And Compare Poem by Reginald Reid

One Day Is The Same As Any Other - Change The Date And Compare

TODAY SEPTEMBER 2017
We're approaching a drought, there's been no rain
The farmers are saying there'll be no grain
Prices will rise but supply isn't there
We'll all lose millions is the cry of despair.

America's got tornadoes and storms
Repeating the pattern well out of the norms
Bangladesh has monsoons and Rohingya flooding there
In the world, displaced millions seek aid agency care.

Trump can't be quiet and weather the storm
Of nuclear threats from North Korea's son born
Terrorists attack people in subways and trains
Or with cars and trucks to rain down severe pain.

Countrysides devastated by war in some name
Innocent children accustomed to death and famine
Armament sellers getting richer each day
International powers manipulate the game play.

How can the hungry and sick get relief
When rich nations ransom supplies like an everyday thief?
Daily, charities call for more funds for more aid
Overheads and graft consume much of the money that's paid.

On TV news daily the press tells the sad thing
While we watch it unfold before us as entertaining
Only some are moved to take action it's true
Most sit by saying "What can we do? "

Protect what you have and don't give away
Chances are you'll probably need it some day
Are refugees welcome? Not in my backyard
The response comes swiftly it isn't so hard.

So what about same sex marriage you ask?
Write me a letter, it's a quite simple task
Politicians are there to take all the blame
I'll keep my ideas secret if it's all just the same.

Meanwhile there are earthquakes in Mexico
Bali's volcano is rumbling and ready to blow
Cholera in Yemen while in millions they starve
And we launch a new warship from our shipbuilding yard.

Introspective the Brits invented the Brexit
Something was broken they hope it will fix it
The symptom is clear all the way the world round
There are no simple answers that are easily found.
