I was housed at racecourse road, air force station
hardly any distance to mention
her residence at No.1 racecourse
she was there as an embodiment of a powerful force
she will stand for a while
stand at the gate with a charming smile
address little audience
and enter the residence
I saw her emerge as a powerful woman
the war on two fronts gave a boost to the nation
India was never powerful with recognition
Indo-Russia friendship treaty made a formidable
force internationally
she not only proved an able leader
but brought the enemy to knees later
agree to an instrument of surrender
and lay down the arms there
she deserves to be called a mother
Goddess Durga
or whatever people could call her
she was no doubt indisputably a strong leader
Dr Jadia Hasmukh
Yes, she earned that epithet of being 'Durga' or an 'Iron Lady' owing to her decisive leadership particularly during 1971 war. The chapter of emergency might have dented her reputation, yet her achievements cannot be obliterated. Thanks for a fine tribute to Indira Gandhi on her Martyrdom Day (October 31) .

Sir, what kind of a tribute is this. Not even once you have mentioned the name of Indira Gandhi in your poem. Even the title of the poem (One Among) does not have any link, even remotely, with that great lady. Graphic does not carry any weight if you are shy of uttering her name.
