Dear little house sparrows
In my childhood you were
everywhere around my house.
We called you as seven Sisters
Always eating the grains and pluses
Worms and insects as your dishes.
Hearing your chirp
Day and night along with
Common crows and squirrels.
At times seasonal birds
Like crane, cuckoo, king fisher
Woodpecker, parrots and pigeons.
Our house was a heaven for
Varieties of birds and small animals
Even mangooes, mouses, rodents and snakes.
Sourrounded by lush green, trees
Like coconuts, mangoes, guava
Plantations, chickoo and Jack.
But today my dear sparrow
You are in the red list,
Disappearing like we the three Sisters...
