As Andrew has stated one can only take so many stabs in the back before they give up or walk away...For the 'stabber' one must hope that they are just so unhappy with themselves that they don't know the hurt and pain they cause another. Something like that can never be repaired. It takes a lot of trust to build up a true friendship and when people then turn their backs on you, there is no retrieving that trust.
