I want to shed my earthly existence
Like the sloughed skin of a snake
To rise high and still higher
To levitate in ether, to feel weightless

Thank you for sharing Valsaji, Superb imagination, well set out with a highly remarkable motivating conclusion.
Thank you Valsaji for sharing, There I would build a palace Amid the clouds to dream in peace With none to disturbed of Exert.j I feel it's a dream in heaven.
Thank you Valsaji, While busy in the day to day bustle of life, we rarely get time to float about in the cloud to be relaxed and in Bliss. Thank you for sharing
With all such ignorance shed With new knowledge garnered Petty strife set aside, in greater humility Finally to descend down a better being! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -If only, if only, we humans would strive for humility- - just think of all the pollution that would cure, and all the poverty that would be chased away, and the crime rates would drop like a rock. We should all swallow a good-sized dollop of humility every day for our health, for our society's health, and for our planet's health. A well-written important write, Valsa. 10++++++++++++++++++
To rise and still higher, Nice to share mam, Thank you.
in our earthly characters most of us act as little little gods and we have if it is right some jealousy with the Real. fantasy is a routine but your poetic lines are beautiful. nice to read
Just after having read the poem I was thinking of the point of worldview you are attempting to paint in this as human's duty.I recognized in this philosophy's point of view to see things in our world through a universal supervision or sub specie eternitatis. Before commenting the poem I read your answer to Daniel's comment and was so pleased to see that you had in mind the world of ‘A frog in the well’, which proves that indeed you wanted to project the alternative world view of our humanity, the universal supervision. Always enjoying your perceptions, dear Valsa.
Thank you so much sir! These words of of appreciation from a veteran poet, I treasure. I have always valued your mature world view reflected through your poems! Sorry for the late response.... I was away travelling!
I love this one. I used to dream of going up there of kingdoms in the clouds. Your poem reminded me of that. Beautiful imagery Valsa....this is the peace that poetry provides....a secret place to dream...where no one can reach you...unless you want them to. A wonderful journey.
Yes, poetry often takes us to a dream land far removed from the fret and fever of life, where in a hidden sequestered space we can be ourselves, sheltered from prying eyes! Thanks Pamela for reading and commenting!
Wish you all the best again in your newfound tranquility far far away and above from all mortal worries. Lovely write. Great dream substance. Silvery imagery. (10)
Thank you Rajendran ji for your glowing comment! Your words are golden!
A wonderful metaphor of the need for renewal. I lobe the snake skin image. When ours sloughed their skins they had an incredible sparkle like a new being, so your first image picked me up and swept me on into your magical journey. As you say you are taking a little rest (hopefully on Wings) it'll give me a chance to catch up a little on one of my very favourite poets. This one too is going into my favourites' list, Valsa.
So happy to know that I come in your favorite poets' list! what more is needed for me! Yes, I am taking a short break....... hopefully to come back with batteries re charged! Thank you so much Tom for the interest you show in my poems!
That's a wonderful journey of renewal n rejuvenation. We all need this break from the worldly life and go on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual cleansing. Again a deft use of language from your master pen. A wonderful flight of imagination to unknown and a coming back in renewed spirit. A huge 10.
Nosheen, I love your intelligent comments and always look forward to them! They are perfectly in place and apt! Thank you so much!
I just love this one, Valsa. Just get out there for a time and see all in perspective. What a great dream, perhaps one our soul can achieve after we shed our body temple. When I read your comments below on the frog-in-the-well the whole poem gets still more meaning and overflows even more with wisdom. A true joy to read!
Hans.... So kind of you to have stopped by and read my poems. Glad you understood the poem in the way I meant it! Thanks for the great boost given!
If one could suspend one's self in mid-air, survey the domain below and aspire to even greater heights! Such a perfect dream. I think this is everyone's goal. Some people seek the goal metaphorically; others have more earthly, somewhat literal aspirations. A great poem, Valsa. A 10.
Thank you so much Lemon for your beautiful comment! I am greatly delighted by your insightful observations!
Let me rest awhile in that magic kingdom Not for ever, but for a little while Rightly said. It is not easy to stay in such a place for long. we will then think of this sweet life on earth.with friends around.
Yes, it is not possible for us to stay in a dreamy realm for long! We have to come down to reality! Thank you for reading and commenting... sir!
I have spent the past hour reading through these poems of the last 24 hours, and as I came to this page I wondered, Does Valsa have a poem here today? and at that moment I saw your poem before me. And what a wonderful poem it is. It can be enjoyed just for its imagery evoking the beauty of our living planet. It can be enjoyed for its convincing fantasy of spiritual flight to be as place beyond the travails of earthly life. But your poems always have a moral dimension which is their highest enjoyment. In this one a good man is rewarded with a voyage to paradise. But he sees it as a kind of restoration of his depleted energy; he has no intention of staying in bliss when so many suffer on earth due to injustice or their own evil ways. So he will give up paradise for the sake of service. What a redemptive journey on fancy's wings your poem records!
Thank you so much Daniel. It is always a pleasure to understand how you see a poem! Actually when I wrote this I didn’t have such a spiritual perspective! Now I see how a poem gains greater depth when read by an attentive and imaginative reader! ‘A frog in the well’ is a popular saying. I wrote this poem with that adage in mind! A frog’s world is very limited. What it sees is only a small collection of water and a tiny stretch of sky above and it thinks that it is the only world and it is the monarch of it. In the same way man who thinks that his world is the only world, when steps out of his immediate environment, understands how vast this universe is and how insignificant he is... just a mote. Going to the outer space is a learning experience. He sees several galaxies and understands that in the vast cosmic space even the Earth is a tiny speck. He comes to realize his littleness which will help him become more humble. This humility will teach him to respect his fellow beings better and to respect the Earth in which he lives. He too has been one of the earthlings sucking the Earth dry! He will now leave aside his false notions, his false sense of pride and become a better individual! I wanted to establish primarily four things 1. One has to step outside his narrow domain 2. One needs quiet to learn more 3. Knowledge will make him think of his own littleness 4. One cannot for ever dwell in an unreal fancy’s world, he has to step down and plant his foot on reality!
Creative minds have no boundaries. Imagination is one great thing that the mind can do. When a poet has such a mind, even a 'mindless' can be made imaginative. Thanks very much for making us more imaginative. Great stuff indeed. Omission, regretted.
I think at such a lovely place you may need a good neighbor. May I? A lovely poem I really liked it very much.
Yes, Akhtarji! I would love you to be my travelling companion.......! But do you have the space suit....? Oh, I forgot..... you often make such trips!
With all such ignorance shed With new knowledge garnered Petty strife set aside, in greater humility Finally to descend down a better being! I too, feel the same Valsa! Wonderful array of thoughts.
No laws of gravity should pull me down Let me rest awhile in that magic kingdom Not for ever, but for a little while To look down from that cosmic arena And pity upon the poor earthlings Who never realize how insignificant they are.....outstanding conceptualization. A superb poem is so nicely delineated.10
