On Bhasa Diwas Thought I Differently About

My languages,
Which I spoke at home,
Into the streets
Hearing about others
In the neighborhood
Punjabi, Bengali, Sindhi, Rajasthani
Into their domiciled homes,
Into the hills and hamlets
Heard I the accents of
Santali, Paharia,
Heard about
Mundari, Ho.

Where was I born,
Where did I move to for
Education,
Where did I finally for the stomach,
What it in the janmabhumi,
Now the karmabhumi my annadata,
As get I food from here?

What it in the matribhasa or
the pitribhasa,
The mother tongue or the father tongue,
For my son Bengali is his mother tongue
And Angika and Hindi his father tongue
But he can write only Bengali
As he cannot Hindi
But can speak it fluently?
