p.s.! it seems this was not in MyPoemList; now it is, according to PH. bri ;)
i didn't recall reading (and commenting) on this EARLIER THIS YEAR! ! ! am i getting OLD! ! ! ....(yes) . i'm glad you looked at Loke Kok Yee's contribution to literature (and photography) which i mentioned to you. to MyPoemList. oops! already did it, i guess. i plan to use this in August's showcase soon, where SHORT POEMS by some PH friends will be featured as well as poems mentioning racism. bri :)
Very true! I'm likely to be 95 and still wearing bright shades of lipstick! lol But hey, why not? Just because you get old on the outside doesn't mean your spirit does too. Great observational work! ~
Following Bri’s advice is not wise From your friends you may be ostracize He is wallowing in sin The same place that I am in Where the aged tries to womanize Thanks Mj
Some 'rituals' are religiously passed on from generation to generation! One such ritual is putting lipstick! Women always prefer to apply make up.... no matter in what age they are in....! Humorous and observant!
Valsa, thank you so very much. Now you have me thinking of the real power of ritual....the ability to outlive any individual...to find a new life in each succeeding generation! !
A nice poetic imagination, M. J Lemon. You may like to read my poem, Love and Iust. Thanks
I dont know but this get me smiling...and the ritual will be passed from people around or to next generations...lipstick is the confidence mask for many if they depend on it :)
Absolutely, Soul! Take a pause between the first two words..and the reading takes up the idea of going from generation to generation. Thank you so much for reading
There are millions of stories, probably more than millions... between these lines. rituals, many rituals won't die. this is also a ritual that, man dies, and life fades. great poem.
Rituals never die and we gradually observe that rituals remain in life. There is growth with change. Amazingly and humorously social brilliance is expressed in this poem. Lipstick seems to be very humorous in this poem. This poem is very cleverly penned..10
Kumarmani, thank you so very much. You have me thinking about a meaning. If the first word is taken as a comment on the ritual, then yes...there absolutely is social commentary. Thank you again for reading.
many rituals won't die even when looks fade - - - - - -We are not what we seem to be.Lipstick, face cream or those things that give us a high we wear them to show others our nice outward appearance and also our strength to maintain ourselves in busy schedules. Caring for ourselves we need to do before we give care to others.Aging, I think, should not make us careless about ourselves.
Thank you, Bharati. I do agree, caring for oneself should not end. Thank you so much.
Mark, i'm putting this into my/our August showcase TODAY! ! Thanks. bri :)
