Old Together Poem by soren Barrett

Old Together

When we were young
We held each other so tight and talked through the night
You yelled at the top of your voice
"One day we will grow old together"

Time ran on, I was always gone
As we held hands
You softly said
"One day we will grow old together"

Months and years ran off the clock, we hardly talk
With a tentative touch
You whispered
"One day we will grow old together"

Today we are old, your touch so cold
You withdraw
Not a word is said
We grew old together
