Geoffrey, I love this poem. I love dogs, although there is no place for one where I live now. My son has a German Shepherd that is about 15 years old, and will probably not last much longer. She is the best-behaved dog I have ever seen. Congrats on having this selected as member poem of the day. Well done!

Kim...The older they get the sweeter the nature they develop. Wisdom seems inherent eh my friend? Always a pleasure to read your comments. Geoffrey.

If an animal becomes faithful and trustworthy, that's forever. Not that much with human beings. Well deserved positioning. Thanks for sharing.

Geoffrey, I watched the same shows and had the same thoughts. My family's first dog was trained by my uncle to thorughly protect me when I was just 14 months old. My parents told me that he had the uncanny ability to distinguish total strangers from family and other relatives. Thoroughly enjoyed your heart-felt tribute to your great friend!
